i have this obsession with books. old books and new books, lots of books together, stacked, in piles, alone on coffee tables and nightstands, sitting furtively on the corners of shelves and desks.
i also have an obsession with the way books make me feel. there is a whole lifestyle-mood, one could say, that goes with books. and a fashion style i picture as well. i once tried to be true to this style, in maybe 10th grade, but had little idea how to go about it in a practical way. the style reminds me of fall, is fall, in essence, and evokes dead leaves tossed by an impatient wind and the momentary relief one feels when getting in out of the new cold, and craving a cup of tea and argyle socks.
j. crew does a very good job of replicating this style, this mood, with its fall collections. its fall 2009 collection just arrived in the liberty place store and i spent part of my lunch break today admiring the expensive and, dare i say, thought-provoking clothing that is now for sale. i hadn't yet begun to think about fall clothes - i generally keep my wardrobe intact year-round, with minor exchanges between shorts and coats - but now that i've been reminded it's a little exciting. not as exciting for my wallet, considering that few of the pieces i would love to have would never fit my lankiness, but i enjoy looking at the things, nonetheless.
i love the sweaters here. check them out.
