so i ended up going up to school to see steve. it was actually a really great day. we had lunch at sogo, a really good sushi place right off the circle, and spent the rest of the day hanging out and talking in his room at phi psi. it was a really nice day so the walk up and down the hill was fun.
it was funny because it was steve who brought up the fact that 'it's wrong to cheat.' i was fully prepared to have to stop him from making a move on me, which i don't think was too presumtuous considering everything that has happened between us, but he started telling a story about how terrible he thought it was that our mutual friend brian makes moves on girls all the time when he already has a girlfriend. i had mentioned that i thought it was funny that i'd heard from someone that steve had said that i "go after guys who have girlfriends," (which isn't true). he was bothered by that because he thinks maybe it was something about how he didn't like how brian was all over me one night when we were both very drunk (although nothing happened). but no, he even admitted that he doesn't (or didn't) know enough about my personal dating history to really be able to make such a statement.
we talked a lot about everything, and i inserted somewhere the fact that i would never be able to live with myself if i hooked up with a guy who i knew had a girlfriend. of course this was in the context of the conversation, not an awkward "i'm not hooking up with you" statement. but we had a great day and i'm really glad we're friends. i feel bad for him because he's having problems with hannah, but when i asked he seemed like he really wanted some one to talk to about them. i like being the person some one can tell their problems too; it makes me feel helpful. so i'm not weirded out by things with steve anymore. it feels kind of comfortable.
